George and Hundley quickly realize that they need to fix the problem. They set out on a journey to find the person who can help them turn the government back on. Along the way, they meet all sorts of interesting characters, including a talking dog, a singing bird, and a dancing elephant.
With their help, George and Hundley finally find the person who can help them turn the government back on. They return to the White House and press the button again. The government starts back up, and everything is back to normal.

About the Author
H.A. Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1898. He studied art and architecture in Munich and Paris. In 1940, he fled to the United States with his wife, Margret, to escape the Nazis. Rey began writing and illustrating children's books in the 1940s. His most famous creation is Curious George, a mischievous monkey who gets into all sorts of trouble.
Rey died in 1990. He left behind a legacy of beloved children's books that continue to be enjoyed by generations of readers.
