The Early Years
Chad Hanson was born in Bristol, Connecticut, in 1920. His parents were Swedish immigrants who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep love for their adopted country.
Hanson attended local schools and graduated from Bristol High School in 1938. He then went on to earn a degree in economics from Trinity College in Hartford.
A Life of Service
After college, Hanson returned to Bristol and began working in his father's insurance business. He quickly rose through the ranks and became a successful businessman.
Hanson's passion for his community led him to become involved in local politics. He served on the Bristol City Council for several years before being elected mayor in 1965.
As mayor, Hanson oversaw a period of tremendous growth and prosperity for Bristol. He championed the construction of new schools, parks, and other public facilities. He also worked tirelessly to attract businesses and jobs to the city.
