My Life Growing Up Asian in America: A Journey of Identity, Culture, and Belonging
I was born in a small town in the Midwest, the only Asian kid in my entire school. My parents had immigrated from China a few years before, and I was the first person in my family to be born in the United States.
From the very beginning, I felt like an outsider. I didn't look like the other kids, I didn't speak the same language, and I didn't share the same cultural experiences. I was often teased and bullied for being different, and I spent a lot of time feeling lonely and isolated.
As I got older, I began to learn more about my Chinese heritage and culture. I started reading books by Asian American authors, and I met other Asian kids who were also struggling with their identity. I began to realize that I was not alone, and that there were other people who understood what I was going through.

I also started to get involved in Asian American activism. I joined a group called the Asian Pacific American Student Union, and I started attending rallies and protests for Asian American rights. I learned about the history of Asian Americans in the United States, and I began to understand the systemic racism and discrimination that we have faced.
Through my involvement in activism, I met many other Asian Americans who were working to make a difference. I was inspired by their stories, and I realized that I wanted to use my voice to speak out against injustice.
I started writing about my experiences as an Asian American, and I published my first book, My Life Growing Up Asian in America, in 2020. In my book, I share my personal story, as well as the stories of other Asian Americans who have struggled with their identity and culture.
I wrote this book because I want to help other Asian Americans feel seen and heard. I want them to know that they are not alone, and that there are other people who understand what they are going through. I also want to educate non-Asian Americans about the unique experiences and challenges of growing up Asian in America.
I hope that my book will inspire people to be more inclusive and accepting of Asian Americans. I hope that it will help to create a world where all Asian Americans can feel like they belong.
