Toxic Flora: Poems by Kimiko Hahn
In her latest collection of poems, Kimiko Hahn invites us to take a closer look at the natural world, and to see the beauty in the things that can also harm us.
Toxic Flora is a book of poems about poisonous plants, and it is a fascinating and disturbing read. Hahn's poems are full of lush imagery and vivid descriptions, and they capture the beauty of these deadly plants while also warning us of their dangers.

Here is an excerpt from the poem "Belladonna":
Belladonna, deadly nightshade,
Your berries are black as night,
And your leaves are soft as velvet.
But beware, for your touch is deadly.
Your poison can cause hallucinations,
And even death.
Hahn's poems are not just about the dangers of poisonous plants, however. They are also about the beauty of these plants, and about the power of nature. In the poem "Poison Ivy," Hahn writes:
Poison ivy, you are a thing of beauty,
With your bright green leaves
And your delicate white flowers.
But I know that your touch is painful,
And I stay away from you.
Yet I am still drawn to you,
To your beauty and your danger.
Toxic Flora is a book of poems that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. Hahn's poems are powerful and evocative, and they offer a unique perspective on the natural world. If you are interested in poetry, nature, or the darker side of life, then I highly recommend this book.
