History of Asian Americans in the United States

The first Asian Americans arrived in the United States in the 16th century, when Spanish explorers brought Filipino sailors to the West Coast. In the 19th century, Chinese and Japanese immigrants came to the United States to work on the railroads and in the mines. In the early 20th century, Korean and Vietnamese immigrants began to arrive in the United States, and in the 1960s and 1970s, there was a wave of immigration from South Asia, including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Asian Americans have faced discrimination and prejudice throughout their history in the United States.
